"Because they can't dial 911, we've relied on the public to be
our eyes and ears for the marine mammals and sea turtles in New York
waters. Community involvement through developing citizen scientists is
essential to finding out more about what's in our backyard," stated
Robert DiGiovanni, Jr., the Foundation Director/Senior Biologist. "To
develop a sustainable future with citizen scientists it only makes sense
to involve our children. As children are our future, we are making the
investment to open doors to our ocean backyard for them in hopes that
they will in return enlighten their parents and friends."
Photos are available of the exhibit and press have the
opportunity to interview Foundation Director and Senior Biologist,
Robert DiGiovanni, Jr., to discuss this exhibit and programs offered by
the Riverhead Foundation, such as adoptions, cold-stun sea turtle
season, seal cruises, animal tracking and more.

Generations young and old will enjoy visiting Norman Rockwell's
323 Saturday Evening Post Covers. This exhibition features the original
tear sheets of every cover Rockwell created for the magazine in a
relationship that began in 1916 when Rockwell was only 22 and lasted for
47 years.
Also included in the exhibition are a film on Rockwell's work
and techniques and a family reading area with original copies of the
Saturday Evening Post. After flipping through the magazines, families
can create torn paper collages of their very own magazine covers.
During their visit to the museum, families can enjoy the
museum's annual Colors of Long Island student art exhibition featuring
original artwork from more than 300 students in grades K through 12 from
across Long Island. A visit to the carriage museum will delight children
and adults alike with the finest collection of horse-drawn vehicles in
the country.
