Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum
The Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum is dedicated to preserving and
collecting whaling artifacts. The museum offers educational programs and
exhibits. Both sites focus on the history of whaling and maritime histories
of Long Island.
Dinosaur Walk Museum
This museum in Riverhead is filled with prehistoric creatures.

Long Island Traditions, Inc.
This web site, which is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, seeks to inform viewers of Long Island's cultural programs. These programs include folk arts, ethnic dancing, maritime programs, local artists and preservation of historic homes.
Museums at Stony Brook
This private museum is made up of three buildings: The Art Museum,
featuring the paintings of William Sidney Mount and Margaret Melville
Blackwell; the History Museum with miniature rooms, decoys, quilts, etc.;
and the Carriage House Museum featuring a collection of horse-drawn
vehicles. The museums provide childrens programs and workshops.
Old Bethpage Village Restoration
Old Bethpage Village re-creates community life on Long Island as it was
before the Civil War. Guided tours are given for school groups.
Sagamore Hill National Historical Site
Now a historical site, Sagamore Hill was once the home of Theodore
Roosevelt. During his presidency the estate was also known as the summer
White House. This site features a photograph of the house along with its
location and visiting hours.
The Vanderbilt Planetarium
The Planetarium features a domed theater with sky shows and has an
observatory with a high powered telescope. Educational programs for school
groups are offered. In addition to information about the planetarium, this
site gives its location and admission hours.
