ASCAP
The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, a performing rights licensing organization founded in 1914, offers a searchable database of performed music in its repertory. Site also includes licensing and copyright information, as well as links to music resources, awards, and current news.

BMI
A non-profit organization representing songwriters, composers, and publishers. Includes a searchable database of songs, writers, and publishers licensed by BMI, and provides current news and legislation regarding the business of music.

The Center for Pop Music
"The Center's collection documents the diversity of American music. We take as our starting point the European and African origins of American culture, selecting items which document the music of our national vernacular culture. From the 18th to early 20th century music was disseminated largely in printed form: sheet music, songsters, broadsides, instrumental instruction books and song anthologies. After 1920 recorded sound gained dominance. The Center's collection reflects this change in the commodification of music."

PML Popular Song Index Index
This is an index to selected books of popular songs in the collection of the Patchogue-Medford Library. There are over 100,000 entries from over 1,100 books which have been indexed. Also included in the index are monthly issues of "Sheet Music Magazine" from May 1987 on, as well as individual titles from our sheet music file. In general, the index does not include collections of songs such as piano-vocal scores of musicals and films which can be easily located by other means
