Geographic Names Online
The TGN, an online gazetteer is a structured vocabulary containing more than one million names and other information about places.
The TGN includes all continents and nations of the modern political world, as well as historical places.
It includes physical features and administrative entities, such as cities and nations. The emphasis in
TGN is on places that are important for art and architecture.
Map Collections 1500-2003
The Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress contains over 4.5 million maps. Map Collections represents
a small sampling of maps that have been digitized. There are seven categories of maps on this site: Cultural Landscapes,
Cities and Towns, Conservation and Environment, Discovery and Exploration, Military Battles and Campaigns, Transportation
and Communication, and General Maps.
National Geographic
Provides information from National Geographic, World, and Traveler magazine. Features articles
