Patchogue's Carnegie Library

Carnegie Libraries, as institutions of lifelong learning, and as architectural landmarks, are significant in the history and culture of modern America.   Patchogue's Carnegie Library was the first of only two ever built in Suffolk County (the other being Northport Public Library, now home to Northport Historical Society).  On all of Long Island, only one other was ever built, in Rockville Centre (now an office complex).  The Patchogue-Medford Library is delighted to embark on a project to restore the Patchogue Carnegie to its original purpose!
