Dear Friends and Community Members,

            We are pleased to report that due to your generous support we have had a very successful year.  Thank you for the many books, magazines and tapes you have donated to the Friends of the Library. 

Because of you, we have been able to continue the following activities:

WITHIN THE LIBRARY       Donations and sponsorships

-         $200.00 to the Teen Friends Players Club

-         Saturday Parent Child programs

-         SAT help classes for Patchogue-Medford students

-         Regents and Math homework tutoring program

SCHOOL OUTREACH       Patchogue-Medford District

-         Two $500.00 scholarship grants for graduating seniors

-         $50.00 cash awards to each winner of an Outstanding Research Paper Award

-         $1,000 to the Booster Club to support school athletics

-         $1,000 to SAVE for supporting school arts and music activities

-         Books to classroom teachers

COMMUNITY OUTREACH           We gave :

-         St. Joseph’s College drama program $500.00 for local elementary school children

-         The YMCA $1,000 to establish scholarships for the summer camp and pre-school programs and many books for their classroom library

-         Medford Chamber of Commerce cartons of books for Katrina hurricane restoration of school libraries in Gulfport, Miss.

-         Cartons of books to Briarcliff College for the Holly Wagner Education Fund.

-         The Stony Brook Veteran’s Hospital received large print books, magazines and children’s books for visitors

-         Books to Bellport Boys and Girls Club

-         Miss Kristen’s Apple Dumpling School received many books.

-         Judaism books went to the Temple Beth El

-         Spanish books went to Head Start

-         The Bayport Blue Point Lion’s Club many cartons of books for their drive to promote literacy.

-         St. Sylvester’s Parish Outreach books to be distributed with Holiday food baskets

-         Cartons of books to be used as raffle prizes went to Patchogue Medford Youth and Community Services, Rotary Club of Patchogue and Patchogue Head Start

-         The Pediatric Unit at the Brookhaven Health Center in Coram cartons of new hard cover children’s books

            - Cont. –

ONGOING OUTREACH:

-         Magazines to Brookhaven Hospital

-         Books to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility and to their BOCES teacher.

-         The Epilepsy Foundation receives National Geographics

-         The Autistic Adult Services continue to distribute our books to nursing homes

-         We are proud to maintain cooperation with the VFW members who make sure our service people on land and sea receive the hundreds and videos you donate.

SALES:

            Our fund raising has gone well.  We’ve participated in many of the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Live at Five evenings, held Mini Saturday Sales monthly, and annual clearance sales.

The next large sale will be downstairs on June 3^rd from 12:30 until 5:00pm, so mark your calendar!

Wednesday, April 5^th from 9am to 9pm!
