Q:  Who can get a Library card?

 

  All people who live in the Patchogue-Medford School District (#24).

 

Also:

  • All people who own property in the Patchogue-Medford School District.
  • All people (18 and older) who work in the Patchogue-Medford School District a minimum of 17 hours per week.

Q: How do I get a Library card?

 

To get a Library card everyone must fill out an application form. Adults must show two forms of identification with their current address on it.

  • Valid forms of identification are:
  • Driver's license
  • Automobile registration
  • Current utility or phone bill
  • Rent agreement
  • Personal mail with current postmark  

A post office box is not considered proof of address.

High School students may use a Student I.D. card as identification.

Children under the age of 14 do not require proof of address, but must have the application form signed by a parent or guardian.

Property owners need to bring in a current tax bill. Everyone residing at that address is entitled to a Library card.

To apply for a business card, a letter from the employer is required.

All cards are renewed every two years, and proof of address must be shown each year.

 

Q: Where are the restrooms?

We have restrooms on the Main Floor, located across from the Circulation Desk. We also have a Children’s Bathroom, located in Children’s and Parent’s Services, and another set of bathrooms located near the Meeting Rooms.

 

Q: How do I use the public computers?
You need a valid library card (from any library in the county.) If you have fines, they must be under $10.00. You also need a PIN number, which can be created by viewing your own record. If you need help, please ask for the assistance of a Computer Page.

Q: What is going on at the Library today?
  
Q: Is there a fax machine?
Yes! The fax machine is located near the Main Computer Cluster. Ask a staff member for directions.
 
Q: Do you have a Notary Public?
No. We do not have a notary at this time.
 
Q: How do I apply for a job at the Library?
Ask for an application at the Main Desk (Circulation). Applications are kept on file for 6 months.
