What Kind of Reference questions can I ask?

The goal of electronic reference service is to guide you to appropriate information sources with which to answer your questions. Legal, medical, and financial advice is not provided.

We are not able to perform lengthy research. However we can provide brief answers to factual questions or suggestions for location and sources which might help answer your questions.

The Subject of the Question

Describe the question or problem to be searched. Be as complete and specific as possible. The more you tell us, the better our answer will be. If possible, describe how you will use this information.

We will normally respond to your question via email, but if you would like, a reference librarian can contact you by telephone if you are a resident of Suffolk County. We will call you as soon as your question is received.

You may ask your question here with our easy fill-in form, or if you prefer you can email us directly at pmlref@suffolk.lib.ny.us
