Learning Express Library

This month our featured database is LearningExpress Library, featuring timed, online practice tests you can take at your own pace and receive instant scoring and feedback. Using Learning Express Library, you can take online practice exams for many academic, civil service, college prep, and general education skills. Learning Express Library is available for use in the library, or for Patchogue-Medford cardholders, from home with their barcode and PIN numbers.

Sounds Great! How Can I Try It?

It's easy! Just logon from home OR from inside the library.

If you're at home, you will first need to enter your Patchogue-Medford Library barcode and PIN

If you do not have a PIN number yet, you can create one here

Once you have logged on, you will need to register with Learning Express Library by clicking on the "New User" link.
Why? So that Learning Express Library can keep track of the individual tests you are taking and their results. Please write down your username and password for Learning Express Library. It may be easier to use your library card barcode again as your username for Learning Express Library, so that it will be easy to remember. Tests are normally active for one year from the date you sign on to take them. You can take them at your own pace and go back over tougher questions. Once you have registered at the site, you can then logon through the "Returning User" link.

Nursing Students and Practicing Nurses

LearningExpressLibrary.com can be your solution for everything from applying to nursing school to taking the RN test to continuing to improve your skills throughout your career. Start practicing here!

Those in the nursing field can:

Take a Nursing School Practice Entrance Exam if you're applying to nursing schools.
Take a Nurse Assistant and Nurse Aide practice exam.
Two NCLEX-RN practice tests are available.
Practicing registered nurses can sign up to take nursing continuing education courses.

Computer Users

LearningExpressLibrary offers online, interactive tutorials for Microsoft Office applications -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

These interactive courses take you from learning the fundamentals through more advanced features and techniques for multiple versions of the Microsoft Office suite.

Please use Microsoft Internet Explorer if you intend to use the Computer Skills section. You will be required to download an Active X control or a plugin to use this portion of Learning Express Library.

Civil Service Job Seekers

Math and Reading Skills Improvement

Learning Express Library offers dozens of skills improvement exercises for math, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing for students in elementary school to college and beyond. These tests can help students get ahead in class and prepare for college entrance exams. They provide handy review classes for adult learners going back to school after an absence and for adult literacy students and teachers who need to get their skills up to speed. Sample practice tests include an algebra skills review and a "Fundamentals of Writing" Course.

New Citizens

New citizens and new arrivals to the United States can use Learning Express Library to help them practice their English skills, review for the citizenship test, and learn basic math and grammar.
