Literacy and Languages

 

The Literacy and Languages Center contains materials for learning English, Spanish, Italian, French and German. There are teaching aids such as workbooks and textbooks for teachers of English as a Second Language and Basic Literacy. Also available are study guides for the TOEFL and GED exams. 

 

• An Adult Learner Collection for students and teachers of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Adult Literacy;                                   
• Books, dvds, cds, Playaways, and databases (Tell me More and Mango) to learn English;                              
• Information in Spanish about computers, health, starting a business, auto repair, citizenship, and much more;                                                                 
• Novels, dictionaries, and encyclopedias in Spanish;                                                
• Novels in French and Italian;                                                                  
• Feature films and dvds in Spanish, French, Italian and German;                        
• Cds, dvds, Playaways to learn Spanish, French, Italian, and German;             
• Foreign language magazines and newspapers;                                                         
• Media center;                                                                                                                          
• Computer for searching the Library’s catalog, as well as learning English;
• Information on community ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes;
• Literacy Suffolk, Inc. tutor and student applications.

 

 

Anyone with a valid library card from a Suffolk County public library may check out materials from the Center.
