This month our featured databases are the Auto Repair Reference Center and the Small Engine Repair Reference Center. These databases allow patrons seeking assistance with "do-it-yourself" projects to access thousands of pages of repair information, diagrams, and illustrations on autos, trucks, and various small engines directly from home or from within the library. Both Auto Repair Reference Center and Small Engine Repair Reference Center are available for use at computers in the library or from home with the barcode from your Patchogue-Medford Library card.

Auto Repair Reference Center

Auto Repair Reference Center contains information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, with repair information on some vintage makes starting as far back as 1945. Content includes over 28,000 vehicles covering from 1945 to the present; over 191,000 drawings and step-by-step photographs; over 70,000 technical service bulletins and recall notices issued by the original equipment vehicle manufacturer; over 114,000 enhanced wiring diagrams designed for easy viewing and printing; specifications & maintenance schedules; labor time guide and estimator. New repair procedures and updates are added continuously. All content in the Auto Repair Reference Center has been created by ASE Certified technicians.

Small Engine Repair Reference Center

Small Engine Repair Reference Center is the definitive online tool for small engine repair assistance, including: ATVs, commercial mowers, farm tractors, generators, motorcycles, marine (boats), outdoor power equipment, PWC (personal watercraft/jet ski), snowblowers, snowmobiles, tillers and other small engines. This comprehensive resource contains 407 reference books in full text with original photos and illustrations that guide the user through every job. The database often contains more than 25 years of an engine model, and offers assistance in providing routine maintenance, such as tune-ups and brake service, as well as extensive repairs involving engine and transmission disassembly. Also, the database allows users to select a type of product, specific brand, specific model/engine type, and specific area of that model/engine type. Additionally, model numbers will also be searchable. This database contains the complete set of small engine repair manuals from Clymer Publishing.
